Judge L. Felipe Restrepo was confirmed, 82-6 vote, on Monday, January 11th, 2016 as the first Hispanic federal judge from Pennsylvania on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.

President Obama nominated Judge L. Felipe Restrepo to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on November 12, 2014. Judge Restrepo has served as a U.S. District Judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since June 2013. President Obama remarked that Judge Restrepo has “displayed exceptional dedication to the legal profession through [his] work,” and “[he] will be [a] diligent, judicious and esteemed addition” to the Third Circuit.
